If your window is not locking smoothly, or even at all, there is a few potential causes for this:
The first being an alignment issue with the receiving plates, causing the locking points to ‘bind’ against the plate.
The second could relate to an issue with the locking window handle. These wear down over time, and especially if it is getting a lot of use, it might be time to have it serviced or replaced.
The other likely cause of a window that is difficult to lock is the espagnolette mechanism or its gearbox have broken down. Like most products these days, they don’t use the strongest quality of metal in these components, so parts inside can snap or crack quite easily.
