A letting agent in the Fishponds area got in touch after a tenant reported a broken Yale lock on their flat door in a HMO property. The existing Yale lock was an auto-locking version, meaning tenants can easily be locked out if the door closes with a key inside.

Luckily, we stock a version that features a ‘roller-bolt’. With this type, you can open and close the door freely, and only with a half turn of the key from the outside / the knob from inside, will it lock.

These roller-bolt night-latches are a great alternative to the traditional Yale. Especially in a HMO property or rental, due to the fact you can never get locked out by simply closing the door.

The external cylinder that the key goes in was still functioning perfectly, so we were able to save the landlord some money by not replacing this part.
